Mark Darling – Story 13

When I moved to Minneapolis, it was because I had just come clean about the secret life of deception and hypocrisy I had been living. I’d been living a double life, hurting many people I cared about, and couldn’t live that way any longer. So I finally confessed it to others and ultimately agreed that I needed to move to a new city to be removed from the situation and start fresh. When Mark learned why I had moved and what my story was, he warmly welcomed me into the Rock, extending to me some of the most radical grace I’ve ever experienced apart from Christ. He immediately sent me many messages to listen to and connected me with people I could talk to in order to seek help and healing. He would check in on me every so often to make sure I was doing well, to encourage me, to send me more teachings, and to let me know he was praying for me. He encouraged me that “God is in the business of taking our mistakes and making something grand,” which has certainly been true. Over the years, God has used Mark along with many others at the Rock to teach me what grace, forgiveness, and a transformed life look like, to help me grow in maturity, and to help me live out my faith. I am so grateful to God for bringing me to the Rock and transforming my life.
