Mark Darling – Story 3

I have so many stories I could share, probably 100 just from emails alone, of times that Mark has encouraged me and shared truth with me. This particular exchange was fun and lighthearted. I went on vacation in February of 2017 to see some friends living in Reno, Nevada. Mark sent me this message: “why have you left us for Lake Tahoe? your forlorn pastor.” I responded with a joke about how I left the Twin Cities because they didn’t have mountains and some bible verses about mountains. He said that he was glad the word was on my heart, and I let him know that I was just on vacation and didn’t leave permanently. It was touching to me that my pastor with so many other saints to serve would notice that I was out of town and take the time to send me an email letting me know that I was missed and a valuable part of our community. This getaway was an essential one at a time when I was feeling run down and defeated, and his message, while I was relaxing with friends, made me feel loved and important back home. This is just one lighthearted example, but Mark is so thoughtful and loyal to his flock. I know there are thousands of people out there with similar stories.
