Mark Darling Story
Mark Darling – Story 34
A few years ago, I sought out Mark’s advice on what to do for a Bible study that I wanted to start for ladies in our house church. This was going to be a group held outside of our normal small group setting and I wanted it to really focus on studying God’s word together. Mark and I spoke on the phone and he gently guided me away from an idea that would probably not have been as fruitful. He instead challenged me to encourage the ladies to really become self-feeders of God’s word, simply going through verses on our identity in Christ and listening to a few messages. His advice was much appreciated and I knew he really cared about how the group went. He continued to follow up with me via email for several months, just checking in occasionally to see how it was going. Mark has always been so available and willing to answer questions, quick to respond to emails or be available for my husband and me to speak with on the phone if need be. That has always touched me about Mark, that he has selflessly made himself very available for everyone.
Throughout the 11 years that my husband and I have been married, we have consistently learned how to be better spouses and parents from Mark’s Biblically-based teaching. He has taught us to lay down our lives, dying to ourselves, for our spouses and children, and modeled this in his own family life. I know that my husband and I would not have the marriage we do today had it not been for God using Mark’s sermons and example in our lives. We have learned so much from him over these many years that it’s hard to quantify. But always, Mark has reminded us that it is our relationship with Christ that changes us, empowers us, and helps us to live for God.
